The solar panel system outside the gallery is designed as an ad-hoc solar tracker, adjusting its position to follow the sun’s movement from east to west throughout the day.

This system consists of four 12V solar cells mounted on a triangular structure outside the gallery.

  • Two opposing solar cells provide power to a small linear actuator motor, which adjusts the position of the triangular solar panel system to track the sun.

  • The other two opposing solar cells are wired into the gallery and provide power to a separate actuator motor inside the space, which controls the movement of the sculpture within the space.

As the outdoor solar tracker moves, its movement is mirrored by the sculptural “sunflower” inside the gallery, allowing it to follow the sun’s position in a manner similar to a real sunflower.
